What is happening globally from the beginning of early this year has at least confirmed to as many that might be ignorant that we indeed: “wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

This pandemic has taken so many lives, both old and young, including babies and still taking lives. It has severely affected daily life activities. Many businesses are out of business, our children could not have school as usual, and even many churches have been closed. It is high time every member of the body of Christ earnestly contend for your faith and start praying as if you have never prayed before for the mercy of God, and against the forces of darkness. The church is the salt of the world and where the solution should be found through God’s power. Jesus said in Matthew 5:13, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

The church cannot afford to be lukewarm, not at all and not even now. See the warning of Jesus in Revelation 3:14-22, to the member of His body, the lukewarm church..

The Bible says we should earnestly contend for our faith (See verse 3 of Jude’s book). We are all saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, which is the gift of God (see Ephesians 2:8-9).

What is Faith?

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” That is, faith is perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.

Why Should We Contend For Our Faith?

There are several significant reasons why we should contend for our faith, but let us look at a few below.

  1. We cannot please God without faith. (see Hebrews 11:6)
  2. Jesus said only those that endure to the end that will be saved (see Matthew 24:13)
  3. Invisible wicked powers are contending against our faith (see Ephesians 6:12)
  4. Our enemy is the devil as a roaring lion walking about just seeking who he will destroy, and this could be as this pandemic (see 1 Peter 5:8)
  5. There are all kind of polluted teaching of the gospel out there that are capable of misleading people (see Galatians 1:8-9)

So, how do we contend for our faith?

Daniel says in Chapter 11:32, “but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” First, it is only those who know and understand their God that will be strong in their God and be able to stand firm in their faith in Him.

When the scribe was talking to Jesus in Mark chapter 12 about the first commandment of all, he said to Jesus in verse 32 that there is one God and that there is none other but He. In verse 33, the scribe said, “to love God with all the heart, with all the understanding and with all the soul, and with all the strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Then Jesus responded to him in verse 34 and said, “you are not far from the kingdom of God” (see Mark 12:32-34)

You cannot understand God without searching for Him through His Word with all your heart (see Jeremiah 29:13)

Below the picture of a Christian Warrior gives a clear picture and description of what Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 6:10-17, that we should do to stand against the wiles of the devil and quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Verse 18 of the same Ephesians chapter 6 says, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” That is even having done all the above; we should always pray. The character of faith is to speak life over your life and overall situations even amid chaos  (see 2 Corinthians 4:13); to fully gain your dominion which has been given to you even before you were born (see Genesis 1:26)

I pray that God will provide you with the grace to seek Him with all your heart and be strong in Him and stand firm in your faith even to the end, in Jesus’s name.

God bless you all.
